Dark Souls

FrommsoftThoughts/Notes:
I only picked this up because of the Elden Ring hype; I'm perpetually broke and couldn't afford a ps4 at the time so the next closest thing was for me to play Dark Souls on the switch. I've bought a used ps4 since then but decided I want to finish Dark Souls before starting up Elden Ring. I've got 60 hours logged so far and I'm only in the catacombs, soo... this is gonna take me A WHILE, lmao.play log
12/27/22: Started playing this again during winter vacation w/ my family, the bone wheels are KICKING MY ASS!!! Trying to get that scythe in the catacombs. My goal is to finish this game in the first half of 2023. We'll see how that goes...

Disco Elysium

ZA/UMThoughts/Notes:
Disco Elsyium is a dress up game before it is an RPG. The doll's name is Harry and he is disgusting. So are the clothes you make him wear.Anyways, I fucking LOVED this game. It plays more like a visual novel than an RPG, but the story within is so engrossing and profound, who cares how it plays? Game of the year for sure. Thanks to my bro Hilal for buying me the game! My favorite quote from the game: You are a violent and irrepressible miracle.
Update: after recent news has come to light, I recommend that anyone interesting in playing Disco Elysium pirate the game, as well as any future projects released by ZA/UM.

IoThoughts/Notes:
Had this game open as a tab in my browser for MONTHS before finally getting around to playing it. I’m glad I did!! I grew up on horror RPG maker games (Yume Nikki, Ib, etc) and this was a pleasant revisiting of that. Short but very impactful. Here's the game if you'd like to play it yourself! And here's more content for the game, including a gallery and walkthrough.Dropped

NitromeThoughts/Notes:
I have some nostalgia for Nitrome; way back in the day before the death of flash they had a lot of browser games that I loved as a kid. Rediscovered them recently and they're still at it making games! Who knows if their old flash games will ever be fully restored, but for now I'm playing Shovel Knight.

SqueenixThoughts/Notes:
Bought this one on a whim coz it was on sale in the switch store. It ticked all of the boxes of what I was looking for: old-school, pixel, rpg, whimsical. A cute and enchanting world to navigate, and relaxing play. Combat was clunky but easy enough to get the hang of. Unfortunately I fell off of playing it; no real reason, my mind just wanders. Maybe I'll pick it up again in the future, but for now it's on the back burner.Planned
